George Edwards/Frank Sproston- Florence Bertha Degg.

Florence was born in 1895, daughter of George Degg and Mary Ann McGraw. She was always known as Bertha rather than Florence.

In 1915 she married George Edwards at Hanley All Saints (George was born in Penkhull in 1893). They had two daughters, Florence Bertha (born 1916) and Elsie May (born 1918). Sadly, George Edwards was killed on 5th April 1918 in WW1, a week before Elsie was born.

Bertha went back to live with her mother and father at Botteslow St, and stayed there until she married Frank Sproston, on 1st August 1926 at All Saints Hanley. They had a baby called Vera in September 1926 but she only lived a day. Then they had Victor Sproston, on 27th February 1929.
